Where to begin?? Perhaps with my usual “sorry for not posting” apology – apparently regular updates are a good thing, and I’ve been completely successful at being useless on the updates, so sorry for that… But I have excuses, and good ones at that!! I’ll start with my very recent accreditation as a Professional Photographer by the AIPP – it was quite a daunting task, my portfolio survived the panel assessment wringer and now I’m on the journey. While I still don’t plan to shoot commercially full time due to my other business interests (including ShutterClass Studios), it does mean I can instruct workshops for professional photographers and potentially get my workshops accredited by the AIPP so that pro shooters get Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit as part of their accreditation! It will also help me bring more amazing international photographers into Australia, something I really enjoy doing.
I’ve also been involved in the Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards 2012, through the studio – we sponsored the Fusion category, and I got to spend some time up on stage handing over the award and getting a little memento to put up in the studio! Check out the post over on the ShutterClass site for more info.
That news not enough?? OK, I’ve also kicked off a rather large and daunting project – not going to go into too many details here, but it is photography related and will have me shooting quite a bit!! It’s an idea I originally had in 2007, but it got another kick last year, and now it’s finally going to get started… when I launch the website for it, I’ll be sure to send out an update.
More news? I’ve started another two businesses – coz I clearly had too much free time on my hands (not!). Again, not much details to post about these yet, but they are ramping up faster than I planned and may cause me to be distracted in the short term (ie more long waits between updates here!).
Tomorrow I’m in the studio for a couple of hours doing a little building and experimenting for a couple of shoot ideas I need to get completed. Also thinking about getting another portrait session running for the Melbourne Photography Workshops group, which also has an exhibition planned for later in the year that I will be a part of! And I’m bouncing around the idea of taking applications for project and concept shoots from people, and having the winner chosen on the ShutterClass FB site – then the winner gets to shoot their project for free in the studio for a day… thoughts?
And while I think of it, ShutterClass has partnered with the amazing Chantelle from Grow Some Project Management, to support the next phase of the studio’s growth and expansion! Grow Some has some great experience behind them, as well as a very practical “get it done” approach to things, so I suggest you take a look if it’s a space you need some help in – and how good is the name!! Love it!

All good news indeed 🙂
