Business as usual around here – hectic, in case you hadn’t noticed!! One or two things on the go at the moment, so I’ll keep this update short!! First off, I’ve somehow got myself caught up in an exhibition! If you would like to see some of my latest work hanging on a wall in a really nice gallery, please get along!! I’m sharing the exhibition with the amazing talents of Keith Melder, Morgana Creely and Christopher Smith. For more details, click on the image to check the Chapel Street Precinct listing or follow the link to see the gallery site!
100th Gallery – 21 September to 2 October 2011
49 Porter St Prahran
Weds -> Fri 11am-7pm
Sat -> Sun 12pm-5pm
Read on!! I decided that some completely new work was required for the exhibition – I’ve been so busy with the studio and hectic daily madness that I was in dire need of some creative activity! I won’t go into details here – instead, I’ll do a full post of the shoots (with behind the scenes) to coincide with the exhibition opening. Here’s a little bit of a hint though – suspending large acrylic sheets is not as easy as you might think!!
On other things, this weekend I’m running my first “Bullet Time – High Speed Photography” workshop. Places have filled for that event but there will be another in a couple of months or so. Preparing for the workshop meant I had to get back into construction, I haven’t really built anything since finishing off the studio a few months back – fun times, great to be building stuff in my spare time again!! Wait, what spare time… But I digress – I’m really pleased with the build efforts, everything is reusable and I have a long list of shoots I have to get done as a by-product of this one workshop!! Keep an eye out for the workshop images, and future shoots as I clear through the projects list!
I’m going along to the Snappy Shutters Fraser Island Photo Retreat in October, it’s going to be awesome!! I’m instructing a couple of workshops, and I’m planning on taking along a decent kit of light painting gear. Here’s hoping the weather is great, since Fraser Island Victoria probably gets colder than the Queensland equivalent (Fraser Island is off Lakes Entrance). ShutterClass is also a sponsor for the event, providing a major comp prize and discounts for the attendees! Not sure if there are any places left, but maybe I’ll see some of you there!
And finally, in simply AWESOME news, I was interviewed by the fab Morgana Creely for her blog’s series “Five questions with…”. You can check the interview here – I’m in the illustrious company of Drew Gardner, Brandon Hill, Frank Doorhof, and Brad Trent to name a few! Just waiting for Drew to tweet that he’s read my interview… could be waiting for a while… 😉
Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a busy couple of months, but I’m looking forward to the ride! I need a nap… Zzzzzz….
