My head just exploded, and it wasn’t because of something coming from Chase for a change!! Just so you all know, I also follow a bunch of other amazing photographers and videographers – they tend to say less, and simply speak with their work!! One of those amazing people is Vincent Laforet. You may recall he was the first to record 1080p on a DSLR with his short film Reverie (which is a great watch if you’ve never seen it!).
Well, Vincent has been quite a fan of Red Epic cameras for quite a while, and it was a lot of his work that kept my interest high in Red before all my hopes were dashed (and as a side update, it got even worse during July with the news that the Epic-M package was going to be $US 58,000 *gasp* That would be “not in this lifetime” pricing right there…). But I digress – Vincent is always doing something amazing, usually with amazing gear or amazing locations – and often both!! That’s too many amazings, but he is just that…
Which is why my head just exploded – I saw this photo, and then watched this video, and fell off my chair!! Yes, a Red Epic camera with a Canon mount (instead of the film PL mount) holding a 2x converter and the massive 600mm Canon f4 lens!! WTF???
Want more amazing? You got it – the video was 120fps full 4k RAW!! You could lift stills off that original footage that would be an amazing 4096 x 2304 pixels!! For the tech heads, do the maths and ask yourself what kinds of disk speeds and storage size you need for that little 3 minute movie…
My head hurts, where’s my wallet….
