The weekend came and went in a blur of new friends, lots of laughs, some amazing images, and a great result for bushfire relief fundraising!!
Halohid and I are soooo pleased with how our little weekend bushfire fundraising workshop sessions went, and it’s all thanks to the wonderful people who came along and participated!! We raised a little under $1500 in total, so everyone who was involved should give themselves a big pat on the back!!
It was 2 full days of learning and laughing, and the feedback we got indicates everyone got something out of it and enjoyed themselves – and that’s all we hoped to achieve out of the sessions (well, fun plus the donations to a good cause!!). Day 1 was dedicated to the models, with the morning session teaching photographers how to direct and work with models. In the afternoon we worked with new models wanting to learn some of the techniques and tricks to survive the bigger shoots! On Day 2 we spent the whole day working on lighting, teaching photographers techniques and tricks to working in the studio (and dealing with the huge array of options!!)
I won’t go through all the details here, but if anyone wants to know more they are more than welcome to drop me a note. However, I do want to quickly go through the people who gave their time to assist in the sessions themselves, without them it would not have been the same!!
Firstly, the wonderful Halohid, who came up with the idea, did most of the organising, got others involved, and then topped it off by running both sessions on Saturday and then modelling all day Sunday. Halohid, we salute you!!
Second, to De Sheng and Luca at Aperture Studios in Richmond – they gave us the studio time for free, gave us the hire gear for free, and gave their own time for free. I think the great success of the sessions was pivotal on their support. Seriously, show them some love and book the studio – their rates are very reasonable, they’re awesome guys, and the studio is excellent (I plan to be back there regularly!!)
Also, I want to thank the following individuals who gave time/kit/effort/other support to make the sessions a smooth and enjoyable success:
– Simon, Viv, Alex, and Alicia for fantastic modelling contributions
– SamiJ for awesome makeup, book her for your next gig, she’s great!!
I personally enjoyed myself immensely, and want to thank everyone who got involved as a contributor or a participant – you all made it the success it was!!
